Two standards, Bylaws, Code of Ethics released for exposure
April
30, 2020 - Two revised standards and minor changes to the IAAO Bylaws
and Code of Ethics have been approved by the IAAO Board of Directors for
exposure to the membership.
The
standards, “Standard on Property Tax Policy” and “Standard on Oversight
of Agency Responsibilities,” are available for download and review.
Comments on the proposed revised standards should be sent to Larry Clark
(clark@iaao.org), IAAO Director of Strategic Initiatives and staff liaison to the task forces that recently completed the two standards.
The
Tax Policy Update Task Force and Standard on Oversight Task Force will
review all comments and submit a final version to the Board for
approval. IAAO has several task forces reviewing existing standards to
update and revise where needed.
The
Board of Directors also approved for exposure amendments to the IAAO
Bylaws and the Code of Ethics developed by the Governance and Ethics
Committees during a review of the governing documents to ensure that the
documents were clear, concise, and do not repeat or conflict with other
documents.
Copies of all of the documents are available for download from the Exposure Drafts page on the IAAO website.
Comments on the Bylaws and Code of Ethics amendments should be sent to Executive Assistant Mindy Murphy-Watson at watson@iaao.org.
Except for the Tax Policy standard, the comment period for the other
documents will run from May 1-31. The Tax Policy period will run from
May 1 to June 10.
Following
the comment period, the Bylaws amendments would be submitted to the
Board of Directors for final approval to send for membership vote as
part of the ballot in November.
