The Real Deal
These
days, there is certainly no love lost between Miami developers and the
county's Property Appraiser's office. Increasingly, the groups are
battling it out in court over assessment values. Take, for example, the
case of a North Miami Beach strip mall located at 14750 Biscayne
Boulevard. In December 2015, the mall's owner convinced the Miami-Dade
County Value Adjustment Board that the previous year's property
assessment of $15.2 million was too high.

Chippewa County Road Commission has joined a growing chorus of local
units of government, including the City of Sault Ste. Marie, Chippewa
County, and the Eastern Upper Peninsula Intermediate School District
(EUPISD) in a community-wide effort to preserve equity in taxation and

Portugal's
government plans to introduce an extra tax on large property holdings
in next year's budget, which real estate investment funds would also
have to pay, a lawmaker said recently.
The minority Socialist government and its Communist and Left Bloc allies
in parliament have been discussing such a tax for several months. The
center-right opposition believes it could undermine investment in a
sector that has attracted many foreigners in recent years.

County commissioner Rodney Ruddock said he's encouraged that more
elected officials — in Pennsylvania's county governments and in the

In
the world of business, appearing insecure to clients, colleagues, and
superiors is the kiss of death. People want to do business with those
who project confidence, and they shirk away from those who second guess
themselves.
It is important, therefore, to ensure that we are not subconsciously
apologizing for our power in the way we communicate with others. Here
are five communication mistakes that make you seem inexperienced and
insecure.
