+ Australian housing market 'through the worst,' but prices record worst annual fall since the global financial crisis >
Australian property values have recorded their biggest annual fall since the Global Financial Crisis, but analysts say the pace of decline is finally slowing. Real estate research firm CoreLogic’s latest data shows dwelling values fell by 0.5 percent to -7.2 percent in the year to April, but the rate of decline has eased since December values fell by 1.1 percent. Read more

Applicants for about 80 different types of local government jobs with Boulder County, Colorado will no longer have to meet higher education degree requirements that were previously in place. Human resources director, Julia Yager, says equity and inclusion is a priority for the county when it comes to hiring and its workforce. + New Jersey tax assessors banned from side jobs for tax appeals, judge says >
Wall Township's municipal tax assessor should not have worked as expert for a taxpayer challenging the property value developed by another municipal tax assessor, according to a court ruling. New Jersey Tax Court Judge Mala Sundar wrote in a court ruling that a prohibition, which was already in place at the county level, also applied to the state's tax court. Her ruling could cut off municipal assessors working certain side jobs as appraisal experts.Read more
 
One of the most frequently recurring themes of last week's business conference of California agricultural appraisers was the impact the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act, known as SGMA, is having on land values. A packed audience of rural appraisers and other related professionals attended the three-day conference of the California Chapter of the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers in Sacramento, where they heard a detailed presentation on agricultural land values by appraisers Janie Gatzman and Tiffany Holmes. "Everything is all about SGMA these days," said Gatzman, who runs an appraisal business in Oakdale. Read more
