IAAO Conference keynote speaker announced Adrianne Haslet,
a former ballroom dancer, survivor of the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing,
and inspirational speaker, will be the keynote speaker at the 2022 IAAO
Annual Conference, Aug. 28-31 in Boston. Her presentation will be part
of the Opening Session on Monday, Aug. 29.
In
2013 Haslet didn’t know much about the Boston Marathon and was taking a
lunch break from dancing when she happened to be near the finish line
when bombing took place.
After
losing her leg, Adrianne recognized the need for help across the
amputee community and has become a global advocate for amputee rights.
She has also become a runner and competed in the Boston Marathon three
times, including this year.
Adrianne
has spoken all over the world. Her debut TED performance has been
viewed over 6.7 million times worldwide, and her debut at TEDx Beacon
Street has been viewed over 2.2 million times.
“I
refuse to be called a victim. A victim is defined by what happened in
their life. I am a survivor, defined by how I live my life,” said
Haslet. New hotel added Additional rooms have been added for the conference at the Marriott Boston Copley Place
at a rate of $199. Located in Back Bay, Boston Marriott Copley
Place offers stylish comfort downtown near the area's well-known
sights including Copley Square, Fenway Park, the Prudential Center and
more. Hotel rooms are also available at the main conference hotel,
the Sheraton Boston. The Marriott is walkable to the Convention Center, with indoor access via the Prudential Center.
