Boston Marathon bombing survivor to help kickoff conference on Monday in Boston
Adrianne Haslet, a former ballroom dancer and survivor of the 2013
Boston Marathon bombing, will be the keynote speaker at the 2022 IAAO
Annual Conference, Aug. 28-31 in Boston. Her presentation will be part
of the Opening Session, sponsored by Tyler Technologies, at the Hynes
Convention Center on Monday.
Haslet lost a leg in the
bombing and after she recovered she took up running and completed the
Boston Marathon in 2016, 2018, and 2022. Adrianne teaches audiences how
to look unflinchingly at that which scares you, and how to proceed
despite your fears, step by step.
Adrianne has spoken all
over the world, alongside inspiring figures such as Vice President Joe
Biden, President Bill Clinton, Martin Luther King, Jr., and many
others.
Her debut TED performance
has been viewed over 6.7 million times worldwide, and her debut at TEDx
Beacon Street has been viewed over 2.2 million times and featured on
OptionB.org, the website founded by Facebook Chief Operating Officer and
author Sheryl Sandberg to help others overcome adversity in their own

U40-ish Reception, Selfie Scavenger Hunt
The U40-ish reception is
set from 7-8:00 pm on Sunday, Aug. 28, immediately following the Annual
Conference Welcome reception, at Back Bay Social (867 Boylston Street).
Take your U40-ish ribbon (required for entry), which will be available
at the Registration Desk and at the First Time Attendee Orientation.
The U40-ish group
will review their Selfie Scavenger Hunt which offers a chance to win a
“fun trophy” and a photo spot in the F&E. Just post photos from the
conference on Instagram using the hashtag #IAAO40ish. More details on the Scavenger Hunt will be in the mobile app.
