Annual Conference in-person registration now onsite,
virtual registration continues until Aug. 25

New registrations to attend the IAAO Annual Conference in Chicago, Aug. 29-Sept. 1 will now be handled on-site in Chicago. Registrations for the virtual component will continue until Wednesday, Aug. 25. If you plan to register to attend the in-person meeting in Chicago, complete the paper registration form to assist with onsite registration. In addition, Aug. 20 is the deadline for the Illinois Chapter of IAAO golf outing taking place on Sunday, Aug. 29. More than 1,000 people have registered to take part in the annual conference in Chicago.
 
 
Registration deadline for virtual IEW is Sept. 6
The registration deadline is Sept. 6 for the virtual Instructor Evaluation Workshop for members interested in becoming a virtual instructor. The IEW is an intensive three-day event that allows participants to showcase their training skills and abilities related to the delivery of IAAO materials in a virtual classroom setting. The online IEW will be offered Nov. 4-6 via the Zoom platform. Those who pass the virtual evaluation will be junior instructors and certified to teach in the virtual classroom. USGS requesting comments on Topography Model by Aug. 20
The USGS National Geospatial Program has been discussing and promoting their vision for the 3D National Topography Model, and plans for the next generation of hydrography and elevation data. The USGS recently developed the “3D National Topography Model Part 1:  the 3D Hydrography Program” document, and has asked the Coalition of Geospatial Organizations (COGO), chaired by IAAO member Christine Stinchcomb, to facilitate review of the materials. Comments must be submitted by Aug. 20 and a draft is available with instructions for submitting comments using a spreadsheet to document comments. Please submit spreadsheet(s) to 3DNTM@usgs.gov.
 
Registration deadline for online effective leader workshop is Sept. 10
The deadline to register for the Emotionally Effective Leader Workshop, scheduled to take place online over four days in September, is Friday, Sept. 10. The virtual Women's Initiative Workshop will provide attendees with a deeper understanding of Emotional Intelligence as well as a key set of tools to be the well-rounded leader needed in today’s environment. The program topic will be "Building Diversity, Equity and Inclusion from a Foundation of Emotional Intelligence" and will be presented virtually by Christine Watkins Davies, MA, PCC and Zach Montroy, SPHR, on Sept. 22, 23, 29 and 30 from noon to 4 pm central.  The cost to register is $225 for IAAO members and $365 for nonmembers. The Sept. 10 deadline allows participants to complete the EQi 2.0 Online Assessment prior to workshop. Participants will receive their individualized 27-page report at the session.
 
 
Registration open for Legal Seminar in Fort Lauderdale  
The 41st IAAO Legal Seminar will be Dec. 2-3 in Fort Lauderdale and will cover legal topics of interest to members of the assessment and property tax industry. Topics for the two-day seminar include recent developments in real property taxation, cost of equity for valuation of a public utility, renewable energy facilities valuation considerations, identifying faulty highest and best use conclusions, privacy in the new media age, Covid-19 panel discussion on hot market values, and ethics in governance. Attendees may register online or submit a paper form with payment. Fees are $500 for IAAO members and $700 for nonmembers until Nov. 1. After that date, fees increase to $550 for members and $750 for nonmembers.
