RE: IAAO Weekly Update
Some
of us have spent nearly two months working from home, while others
haven’t missed more than a day or two in the office. Regardless, we are
all probably ready for the day we can return to ‘normal.’
Despite all the disruptions our world has seen, IAAO persists and moves boldly forward.
Courses/Webinars
– IAAO continues releasing new materials and assisting instructors and
coordinators in moving in-person classes to a live-online option. Check
out the IAAO website
for an updated list of upcoming classes. In addition, we are pleased
that IAAO is offering jurisdictions a 10% discount on online and virtual
courses, if you prepay for them by June 15. The course(s) can be taken
up to one year after the date of purchase. Contact Ashley Lathrop at lathrop@iaao.org for more information.
More than 900 people signed up for this week’s webinar, Assessing COVID-19, and if you missed it the webinar is now available through the IAAO store, at no charge. Look for more webinars coming soon!
Board meeting
– The IAAO Board of Directors held our very first virtual meeting last
Friday. All members of the Board connected via Zoom with the IAAO
Headquarters team to conduct our quarterly meeting. While virtual
meetings will never replace in-person meetings, with many new
technologies available, we were able to meet successfully and achieve a
great deal. Starting today, look on the website
for four draft documents out for 30-day exposure. There are two draft
revised standards, amendments to the Bylaws, and amendments to the Code
of Ethics.
IAAO
– The IAAO office remains closed under a Stay at Home Order issued by
the city of Kansas City, Missouri. Your headquarters team continues to
work remotely, responding to members' questions and working on upcoming
programs and events.
Events – Planning continues for the 2020 IAAO Annual Conference,
Aug. 30 – Sept. 2, in Denver. The IAAO headquarters team is monitoring
the situation in Denver and will decide by the end of June what the
conference format will be. Whether it is held in person, virtually, or a
hybrid version of both – we WILL have a conference this year! We had so
many excellent presentation topics submitted, and we are really looking
forward to all of them!
We
have all learned a great deal over the past couple of months, and we
will use that knowledge to continue improving our products and services
as we move together into this new world.
Stay strong and stay healthy!
