Election Information

The IAAO election will take place electronically from November 1-15. Regular members, in good standing, will be able to vote for the 2024 Regular Board Members and Officer positions and Associate members will vote on the Associate member director in 2024.

The deadline for candidates to submit materials is July 1. Following a review by the Nominating Committee, the slate will be announced to the members and be presented at the 90th Annual Conference in Denver. Profiles for all candidates on the slate will be made available online (above) and in the August/September Fair + Equitable magazine.

Election Information

General Election Items

  • Election Voting Regions – Regular Board of Directors candidates are placed in one of three positions on the ballot according to their membership status. The geographic makeup of the three positions is determined by the Nominating Committee, subject to approval by the Board of Directors. The geographic makeup is re-examined every five (5) years, to ensure equal representation of members within each geographic area.
    • Please note: During the 2022 voting region review, several states in the United States were moved between regions. Candidates should check to confirm the region they are running in.

Important Dates

July 1, 2024

Candidate questionnaires must be completed and submitted to IAAO for distribution to the Nominating Committee. Candidate profile forms and photographs must be submitted to the Executive Director for inclusion with the official ballots.

Prior to Aug. 1, 2024

Nominating Committee Meeting to plan for any needed candidate interviews. Nominating Committee conducts any needed candidate interviews prior to the annual conference.

Aug. 15, 2024

Slate of candidates nominated is certified by the Nominating Committee Chair to the Executive Director by August 15. IAAO will post the list of candidates on the website immediately following certification and notification to the candidates. IAAO shall publicize the names of the members nominated in an IAAO publication as soon as possible.

Sept. 2, 2024

Individuals wishing to be nominated by petition must submit completed petitions to IAAO within five (5) days of the end of annual conference.

Oct. 1, 2024

Must be a member, in good standing, by October 1 to be eligible to vote. 

Nov. 1 – 15, 2024

Election in progress. Ballots, and profiles shall be sent electronically to all regular members by November 1.  A separate ballot shall be sent electronically to all associate members in the year for which an election for the Board of Directors associate member position occurs and shall contain only the candidates for the Board of Directors associate member position.

Nov. 20, 2024

Election results are certified.

Nov. 27, 2024

Deadline for notification of results to candidates, Board of Directors, and Nominating Committee will be no later than Nov. 25.  All candidates may receive election results by election region and each state/province/country having at least five votes.

Dec. 7, 2024

Election campaign reports must be filed with the Executive Director.

Dec. 9, 2024

Candidates wishing to challenge the election results must transmit challenges, in writing, to the Executive Director so that the challenges are received no later than Dec. 9, depending on when candidates are notified.

After Challenge Deadline

The President shall certify the election results and announce the vote count at the first Board of Directors meeting following the election.
