Those who pass the event will be junior instructors and certified to teach in a traditional in-person classroom or in a live online virtual classroom depending on the IEW you are attending. Prior to participating in the IEW, IAAO recommends you have experience in public speaking and facilitating training events.
During the event, a panel of IAAO senior instructors evaluates your teaching style, classroom presence, familiarity and comprehension of the course material, organization of subject matter, use of training materials as well as clarity of classroom presentation and your ability to engage learners.
During the IEW, you will:
- Present a total of four 5-minute presentations on days 1 and 2.
- Receive coaching and feedback from an instructor panel on days 1 and 2.
- Present a final 10-minute presentation on day 3 which will determine whether you pass the IEW and therefore, become an IAAO junior instructor.
You should consider attending if you:
- Have a passion for teaching and sharing your experiences so that you can help develop others in the assessing profession.
- Have completed the course you will be presenting at the IEW no sooner than six months prior to applying for the IEW, and have earned a score of 85% or higher.
